The city offers many neighbourhoods, here are our suggestions
A wonderful eclectic neighbourhood that runs from hippy to hipster and everything in between. A walk-able part of the city that is close enough to walk to most things but quiet enough that you don’t hear the hustle and bustle of the city all the time. There are four neighbourhoods in the Plateau: Milton Park (sometimes called the McGill Ghetto), Jeanne-Mance (the walking neighbourhood nearest downtown), Mile-End (the furthest neighbourhood) and deLormier (a working class neighbourhood.)
Short of the Gay Village, this neighbourhood east of downtown and the Latin Quarter is an upcoming mixed neighbourhood. Older homes mixed with newer homes and a varied mix of restaurants and bars with easy access to the metro.
This is the central neighbourhood south of downtown Montreal. There are no bed and breakfasts in this neighbourhood, but it is the oldest part of town, with Notre-Dame Basilica, City Hall and cobblestone streets. Just a 20 minute walk from the southern Plateau and/or the village.
Ideally located on the edge of the Plateau, walking distance to both Old Montreal and Downtown. Great if you want to walk everywhere
